Prayer Ceremony on the Demise of Syed Mohammad Minhaj Hossain, Chairman of the CSE Department, Premier University.
A prayer ceremony was held at Premier University to seek forgiveness for the departed soul of Mr. Syed Mohammad Minhaj Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). The Quran recitation and prayer ceremony took place on Sunday, 19 October 2025, at 3:30 PM at the central mosque of the university’s GEC campus.
The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Premier University, Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, attended the ceremony. He remarked that Mr. Minhaj Hossain was a dedicated teacher, a hardworking individual, and possessed many admirable qualities. His contributions to the CSE Department and the university were invaluable. We deeply feel his absence.
Also present were the University Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Iftekhar Monir, Controller of Examinations, Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Ibrahim, Proctor, Mr. Mohammad Solaiman Chowdhury, and Dr. Ahsan Uddin, Coordinator of the Accounting Discipline in the Business Administration Department, along with various faculty members and administrative staff from different faculties.
It is noted that the funeral prayer of the late Syed Mohammad Minhaj Hossain was held on the same day, Sunday, 19 October 2025, after Asr prayer at Jamiyatul Falah Mosque premises. The honorable Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Premier University, Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Vice-Chancellor Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Mohit Ul Alam, and Registrar Mr. Mohammad Iftekhar Monir attended the funeral.
Before the funeral, Dr. Shahadat Hossain stated that Syed Mohammad Minhaj Hossain was a selfless worker who made an outstanding contribution to education at Premier University. The loss of this gentle, humble, and simple-hearted person is irreparable for us.
A large number of faculty members and students of Premier University attended the funeral prayer, paying their final respects and participating in prayers for the departed soul. After the second funeral prayer at Kadam Mubarak Mosque, he was buried at the family cemetery in Kadam Mubarak.
